A flat price quoted before anyone has asked about the size or condition of your home isn’t a quote, it’s a guess. Expect questions. A company that asks how many bedrooms, how many people live there, and whether you have pets is a company that intends to do the job properly.
3. How long have they actually been doing this?
Cleaning has a low barrier to entry and a high turnover of new businesses. Experience matters here more than people expect — it shows up in knowing which surfaces need a different approach and in spotting what needs attention without being told.
4. What products do they use?
Worth asking, especially with kids, pets, or anyone sensitive in the house. Eco-friendly products aren’t just an environmental preference — they change what gets left behind on the surfaces your family touches all day.
5. Is it the same team each visit?
For recurring cleaning this matters enormously. A rotating cast means re-explaining your home constantly and a standard that moves around. Consistency is most of the value of a recurring service.
6. What do the reviews actually say?
Read past the star rating to the substance. Reviews that mention specifics — a name, a situation, something that got handled well — are worth far more than a wall of generic five-stars. Be a little wary of a brand new company with a suspiciously large number of perfect reviews.
7. Are they local?
A Bakersfield company can be responsive in a way a national franchise routing your call elsewhere cannot. It also means they have a local reputation to protect, which quietly changes how carefully people work.
8. Will they tell you what you don’t need?
